Motivation is the energy driving an individual toward achieving his targets. It is the individual spirit that which keeps the passion or desire alive, in order to succeed in any adversity that is faced. As with anything, we all have times where we feel motivated and other times when we do not, but learning to stay motivated can lead to drastic change in our lives and career.

For motivation to be effective, therefore, it is crucial to make distinctions between intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. This is not a bribery system, it is drawn from within by satisfaction, passion and or purpose. On the other hand, extrinsic motivation is derived from external factors like reward, praise or approval by other people.

Both kinds are useful, but one must tend carefully to the intrinsic motivation. It is self-fulfilling when one works in some area he or she is excited about and this makes it easy to persevere when the odds are stacked against one.

Goal setting could easily be regarded as one of the most efficient methods of increasing motivation. In essence, goals are a set of objectives towards which one is working; they give a pathway when there is no way. Here’s how to set meaningful goals that inspire action:

1. Be Specific
